Taco Del Mar is going green! Starting this summer, we are replacing everything from our utensils to our garbage bags with those made with more sustainable products. At Taco Del Mar, we’ve always cared about the environment – encouraging recycling and reusable cups - but recently we’ve decided to take it a step further.
These products, made by Trellis Earth, do not require recycling or composting – they biodegrade naturally leaving no toxic residues in landfills. By using these products you will support the effort to replace conventional plastics with newer, more sustainable polymers with a lower carbon footprint.
Taco Del Mar is the first Quick Service Restaurant of its’ size to convert to green packaging. We hope to continue to lead the way in future environmental efforts.
Taco Del Mar is taking one small step in reducing our carbon footprint and creating a cleaner environment. We are incorporating these environmental efforts into our overall mission statement, and will continue to take strides in this arena. We know that a cleaner planet for future generations is something we all can get behind.
If you would like to get involved on our quest to help the planet, here are a few ideas:
- Thirsty? Use an aluminum water bottle (preferably one with a Taco Del Mar logo) instead of plastic water bottles.
- Wear a sweater instead of turning the heat up.
- Bring your own container for your leftovers when you know you’re going out to eat.
- Unplug your appliances when you aren’t using them; even your TV. It’ll save a ton of energy.
- Turn off your computer at night, or when not in use.
- Replace your light-bulbs with florescent or Energy Star bulbs.
- Recycle, recycle, recycle! But don’t use an item just because it can be recycled. Try to avoid overusing anything—mainly plastic bags or paper.
- Start your own garden.
- Invest in rechargeable batteries.
- Open the blinds instead of turning on a lamp.
- Bring your own reusable coffee mug or cup when you go for your daily joe.
- Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
- Ride the bus, your bike, walk! And if you must drive, carpool!
- Eat more often at Taco Del Mar.
We’re all in this world together. If everyone does their part, we’ll all have a better place to live.
